Serging

THE BEST ALLIES FOR SEWING JERSEY & CO.

Using a serger’s speical stitch programs and

settings to perfectly sew stretchy fabrics.

A SERGER IS THE IDEAL COMPLEMENT TO YOUR SEWING MACHINE FOR SEWING SPECIAL FABRICS

Handling stretchy and knit fabrics like jersey, for instance for t-shirts, becomes child’s play with a serger!

Because an overlock machine can sew the special stitch types used in the garment industry, it gives your unique homemade pieces a professional look.

In addition, you can cut, neaten edges and stitch seams together all in one step. In this way, you can shorten skirts and shorts in no time.

In this page, we show you all the benefits of using a serger, like for example the elna overlock 664PRO. This is a complete, yet easy to use model that is ideal for beginners.

LIKE A PROFESSIONAL DRESSMAKER

With an all-round machine like the elna 664PRO, you can easily handle a variety of fabrics including the most difficult and fine, such as jersey, silk or fine voile. Features such as the adjustable presser-foot pressure control contribute to make this easier.

You can also decorate and embellish your garments: for example by using two-thread stitching, rolled seams and wavy edges.

With the elna overlock 664PRO you can sew 2, 3, or 4 spools of thread all at once, which increases the range of stitches for special uses.

BE INSPIRED BY VERSATILE STITCHING PROGRAMS

FOUR-THREAD STITCHING
It is very stable and you can use this program to neatly sew knitwear or very stretchy fabrics, like swimwear and sportswear. Four-thread stitching is typically also used for gathering light to medium fabrics, for instance for a tiered skirt.

THREE-THREAD STITCHING
Regular and wide three-thread overlock programs are suitable for edging light to medium weight fabrics or medium to heavy weight fabrics respectively. You can also form narrow hems on fine knit fabrics like underwear. A three-thread rolled-hem stitch can be used for hemming as well as for decorative pintucks.

TWO-THREAD STITCHING
Two-thread rolled-hem or overcast stitching are ideal for edging lightweight fabrics, such as voile, while you can use a two-thread flatlock stitch to decorate your garments.

SERGING MADE SIMPLE!

The reference panel on the elna 664PRO is a very helpful feature that clearly shows the required settings for the selected program and perfectly executing your desired seams. The coloured marker makes threading easier for you.

One turn is enough: the differential feed is extremely practical and easy to adjust using the small dial. You can also use it to smoothly sew stretchy materials or fine fabrics.

And at the end of your project your work surface remains clean with the help of the functional waste tray.
